The following is a list of STEAM learning designs that have been implemented in Hong Kong primary and secondary school classrooms. A majority of them are selected from classroom implementations by teachers in the In-STEAM project schools during the project period (2019-2024). These examples highlight how self-directed learning in STEAM curriculum units can be designed within the context of authentic STEAM disciplinary practices of engineering design and scientific investigation. By sharing these carefully documented learning designs, some of which also provides evidence of students’ learning outcomes in STEAM and SDL, we hope to showcase the design thinking and pedagogical strategies in these designs for reference by teachers and teacher educators.
