The following is a list of STEM learning designs that have been implemented in Hong Kong primary and secondary school classrooms. Of these, 43 are selected from classroom implementations by teachers in the INSTEM project schools during the project period (2020-2022). By sharing these carefully documented learning designs, some of which also provides evidence of students’ learning outcomes in STEM and SDL, we hope to showcase the design thinking and pedagogical strategies in these designs for reference by teachers and teacher educators. These examples highlight how self-directed learning in STEM curriculum units can be designed within the context of authentic STEM disciplinary practices of engineering design and scientific investigation.
